EVENING ROUTINE
Establishing an evening routine focused on relaxation, mindfulness, and self-care has become essential for me.
These rituals help me end the day on a calming note and prepare my body and mind for a restorative night's rest. However, every night is unique, and I like to maintain a certain flexibility. Rather than following a strict ritual, I adapt these moments according to my energy level and current needs. My goal is to cultivate a space of calm and create a gentle transition between the hustle and bustle of the day and the serenity of the evening.
Listen to my needs for a peaceful sleep.
The key for me is to listen to myself and personalize my routine. Some nights, I take the time to brew a comforting infusion and dim the lights. Other nights, a few deep breaths before bed are enough to mark the end of the day. Whatever the moment, the goal is to find simple gestures that allow me to disconnect and open myself to the tranquility of the night.
Taking care of myself to let go.
One of my favorite pleasures is relaxing in a hot shower or soaking in a bath. During these moments, I use this moment of pampering to reconnect with myself and release the tensions accumulated during the day. It's also the perfect opportunity to apply an oil or moisturizer that envelops my skin in softness, nourishing my body and mind.
Dim the lights.
As bedtime approaches, I create a soft, cozy ambiance by dimming the lighting. By turning off bright lights and opting for dim lamps or a few candles, I signal to my body that it's time to slow down. This soft light helps my mind gradually prepare for sleep.
Soothe the mind with journaling.
Journaling has become a staple in my evening routine. Before bed, I take a few minutes to jot down my thoughts, feelings, and moments of gratitude . I like to record my small victories and what I learned from the day. This simple ritual frees my mind from accumulated tension, nourishes positive energy, and prepares my mind for a peaceful night.
A comforting herbal tea.
Ending the evening with herbal tea is a comforting ritual for me. A chamomile or verbena infusion soothes my mind and helps my body relax. I sometimes turn to a ginger and turmeric tea for its anti-inflammatory benefits. By drinking it about an hour before bed, I ensure I fully benefit from its effects without the risk of waking up during the night.
Create a relaxing atmosphere with aromatherapy.
Essential oils are perfect for transforming my bedroom into a peaceful haven. I love diffusing relaxing oils, like lavender, which instantly create an atmosphere conducive to rest.
Put your legs up and enjoy a good book.
One of my favorite pre-bedtime rituals is to lie with my legs propped up against the wall. This simple pose relieves strain on my legs, improves circulation, and calms my nervous system. I stay in this position for a few minutes, often while breathing deeply, reading a book, or closing my eyes to a short meditation . It's a moment that helps me free myself from the worries of the day.
