GIVE A PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS
Christmas is, in my opinion, the perfect opportunity to slip one or more books under the tree.
First, because it's a gift that can be personalized. We'll never give the same book to everyone, and it's clear that, for as long as I can remember, reading a book has been and will remain my favorite gift to receive. I can clearly remember every person who has given me a book at least once in my life and what book it was. With Sense Soulpsace, we've decided to make it a little easier for you by directing you toward types of reading that we hope will make you want to be given one in return.
-
101 Essays That Will Change Your Thinking - Brianna Wiest
Here, we have a large collection of reflections that will make you take the time to read and question yourself at the same time. A great read for fans of lists and highlighting.
-
A Short Treatise on Inner Life - Frédéric Lenoir
A gentle, easy read that effortlessly bridges the gap between our own lives and beautiful notions of spirituality. We love its short chapters and its revisiting of everyday themes. You'll leave the last page with a small smile on your face.
-
The Peaceful Warrior - Dan Millman (A book I love to give as a gift!)
Here, we must take into account that we are still dealing with a novel. It may not be suitable as a first introduction to personal development for everyone, but it remains, in my eyes, undeniably in the top 3 books in this category to read. No great theory without a path of experience. We are taken in the footsteps of this hero who follows his own initiatory path and, through the pages, makes great notions resonate within us. We enter with him into his objectives, only the tools change if we relate it to our own life path, our experience.
-
The 4 Toltec Agreements - Don Miguel Ruiz
A small pillar, a base to have on your bedside table. To read, and to reread a few years later, because it is ultimately very interesting to introspect what resonated with us. Reading that should nevertheless not be taken in a didactic sense, but rather as a small initiation guide to reflection. Clarity and simplicity of reading are there. The perfect gift to offer for a first step towards this type of reading. You can also supplement with The 5th Agreement , which was written after the fact.
-
Kilometer Zero - Maud Ankaoua
I would say above all that this novel is an ode to travel. A window open onto Nepal, and which leads us to want to buy, in the following, a few deeper lines on Buddhism. Excellent interlude for an "unconfirmed" reader who needs a first step towards this type of initiatory work. I think that this book is perfect for generating reflection in its reader and above all leaving them with something as a souvenir once the last page is closed.
-
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
Delicacy, simplicity, and above all, great wisdom. A book that wishes us well, and which can also be reread (I hope so) several times in a lifetime. Alchemy being a subject that fascinates me, I find that this novel is a first initiation into something even greater that has fascinated and continues to fascinate men for centuries.
-
A little something can change everything - James Clear
My first recommendation: grab a highlighter. This book is a super accessible, practical, insightful read that's fun to highlight. I'd even say it's a methodical manual, filled with practical strategies and tools that can be easily implemented in everyday life for those looking for an introduction to continuous self-improvement. Learn how to identify, create, and change a habit to live your own life more serenely.
-
The One Thing - Gary Keller and Jay Papasan
Let's change gears a bit. I'd call this book a "personal growth book," especially as it relates to the world of work. The idea here is to be able to forget everything we think we know about our productivity and the infamous management of our work time. A great challenge for all those overbooked in life, of which I am one.
Here, we deconstruct. We pose, we dissect, and we talk above all about quantifiable effectiveness by the day, week, month, and also results. You have to read it like a manual if you're ready to be shaken up a bit.
-
The 1% method - Luca Mazzucchelli
The perfect book to read or give as a gift as we approach those New Year's resolutions that we all focus on on January 1st. Here, it's the repetition of small, easy actions that lead the author, and therefore the reader, to great results in the long term. If we start from the principle that we are what we do, by changing our habits, we necessarily act on the way we reveal ourselves to the world, and it then becomes possible to get closer to what we truly want to become. (Something to think about.)
As you will have understood, our first selection is focused on personal development, because it is the theme on which you have asked me the most for Christmas gifts. I like to think that it is certainly also because it is a section of books that is offered to both men and women. I have focused more particularly here on SIMPLE readings. Initiatory. That can be appreciated by all, great readers or, on the contrary, not at all bitten by the reading bug. I know that a book cannot be unanimous; it is also one of my favorite subjects to talk about reading with you. I have voluntarily classified them into 3 main themes to allow you an easier search, trying to remain as pragmatic and short as possible in terms of hook and summary.
A heartfelt thank you to the Sense Soulspace team for trusting me with this first selection, and I hope it will live up to your expectations as readers.
